Butterflies fascinate as masterpieces of evolution and as astonishing transformation artists. What appears fragile reveals itself upon closer inspection to be a highly developed high-performance organism: With fine senses, sophisticated wings for camouflage, deterrence, and temperature regulation, as well as impressive adaptation strategies, they have developed a wide variety of lifestyles. Some species cover enormous distances, while others live only a few days – yet they are all indispensable for biological diversity.

As bioindicators, butterflies show us the state of our ecosystems. Their close relationship with flowering plants makes visible how nature operates through diversity, balance, and adaptation. When butterflies disappear, the ecological balance also begins to falter.

In this event, Marion Jaros takes the audience on a journey of discovery from egg to butterfly. She imparts knowledge, sparks wonder, and demonstrates concretely how we can protect butterflies and contribute to biodiversity with simple measures on balconies and in gardens.
