Moon Tour: "Through the Darkness"

The "Moon Tour for Children through the Darkness" at the Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing invites young explorers to a special evening in Styria. As dusk falls and shadows spread between the old farmhouses, the museum reveals a completely different side. What seems familiar during the day appears mysterious and quiet in the moonlight. Together with experienced guides, participants will walk through courtyards, parlors, and paths of the expansive grounds. Small lights will illuminate the way. Stories about life without electric light highlight how much daily life has changed. How did people orient themselves at night in the past? What sounds were naturally part of it? And why did the moon play an important role in the agricultural calendar?

The tour is specifically designed for children. Playful elements, short stories, and intentional pauses create space for personal impressions. Darkness is not experienced as something eerie, but as a part of nature. The rustling of trees, the chirping of crickets, and the view of the night sky accompany the tour.
