New Year's Concert 2027: Beethoven's Ninth

Markus Poschner and the Bruckner Orchestra Linz will open the grand Beethoven Year 2027 in celebration of the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's death with the crowning finale of his symphonic work: the 9th Symphony in D minor, which is regarded as both the pinnacle of the Classical era and a gateway to Romanticism – not only due to the revolutionary incorporation of choir and solo voices. Alongside the Hard Choir and the Linz Jeunesse Choir, four outstanding soloists – Susanne Bernhard, Katrin Wundsam, Sebastian Kohlhepp, and Rafael Fingerlos – will take the stage in the Great Hall of the Brucknerhaus Linz. The New Year's concert and its repeat on January 2 are part of the Beethoven cycle by the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and Brucknerhaus Linz, which began with the 7th Symphony during the Bruckner Festival 2025 and will conclude on May 2, 2027, with a Sunday matinee featuring Symphonies No. 2 and 4.
