Open Folk Dancing

Starting Sunday, April 26, 2026, the Kultursaal Premstätten invites you to Steirisch Tanzen, an open folk dance evening in the heart of Styria. The event begins at 8:00 PM and is expected to last until around 10:00 PM. At Steirisch Tanzen, people from the region and beyond come together to enjoy traditional dances and authentic Styrian folk music. The evening offers the opportunity to experience and dance well-known and new dance forms from the Alpine dance tradition together. The dance evening is organized by Herbert Kirchberger, who has been overseeing these dance gatherings for many years and ensures that participants feel comfortable, whether they have dance experience or not. The Kultursaal Premstätten itself is centrally located in the market town of Premstätten and is a familiar meeting point for cultural events and community activities in the Graz experience region. Traditional folk dances such as the Ländler or Polka are accompanied by contemporary and classical dance music, played by regional musicians. New faces are warmly welcomed, and a sense of connection and community often quickly develops during the dance evening as couples and groups move across the dance floor. The event is open to all generations and also offers the opportunity to immerse oneself in and get to know Styrian dance culture. Additional dates for the open folk dancing take place regularly at the Kultursaal Premstätten – usually on the last Sunday of the month.
