Pentecost Concert "Romantic Sound Worlds with Weber and Dvořák"

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Carl Maria von Weber's death in 2026, the orchestra is dedicating itself particularly to the works of this significant composer of early Romanticism. The concert evening will open with Weber's famous Rondo "Aufforderung zum Tanz" op. 65 in the colorful orchestral arrangement by Hector Berlioz, which impressively introduces the sound world of early Romanticism. The following clarinet concerto is among the most important solo works in the romantic clarinet literature and captivates with its virtuosic passages as well as its lyrical expressiveness. The highlight of the evening will be Dvořák's 9th Symphony "From the New World," a masterpiece of high Romanticism that has delighted audiences for generations with its memorable melodies, rhythmic energy, and emotional soundscapes.

Verena Kastner, BA BA - Clarinet
Verena Kastner received her first instrumental lessons at the State Music School in Perg. She completed her studies at the University of Mozarteum Salzburg in the subjects of clarinet and saxophone with distinction. Numerous concert activities as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician, as well as multiple participations in national competitions and masterclasses, round off her musical career. Since 2014, Verena Kastner has been working as a teacher for clarinet and saxophone at the State Music School of Upper Austria.
