The optimistic and cheerful student Lena (Luna Wedler), enrolled in German studies and puppetry, takes a job as a writing therapist at the request of the "Office for Peace and Order." However, there is only one participant in her course: Hugo Drowak (Karl Markovics), a lonely old misanthrope full of hatred, an alcoholic who has isolated himself among his empty bottles – and who seems very unapproachable.
But Lena is not deterred by this. Her spirited ambition unexpectedly awakens Drowak's literary talent. Lena is enchanted by his poetry about love and magic. And the deeper Drowak dives into his memories, the more repressed demons within him come to life. Lena fights to protect Drowak from himself and to help him believe in the goodness of life again.
