THE AMY WINEHOUSE BAND

The group of musicians once formed the original band of Amy Winehouse, the singer of "Tears Dry On Their Own," who tragically passed away in 2011 at the age of just 27. Today, they are back on stage live to honor her memory and her musical legacy.

Bassist Dale Davis emphasizes that the show is a tribute to his friend and at the same time a celebration of her iconic songs. The project has more in common with what Queen brings to the stage with Adam Lambert than with classic tribute shows.

In an interview with BANG Showbiz, he explained:
"I believe we need to create a new genre. Many artists have passed away, but the bands continue to play live – even with bands like Queen. Tribute is something different today. I think a new genre needs to emerge from this."

Dale Davis, who also served as a musical consultant for the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic "Back to Black," featuring Marisa Abela in the role of the Grammy-winning singer, makes it clear that the band's singer, Bronte Shande, does not want to copy Amy Winehouse in any way and does not attempt to resemble her visually.

The bassist describes Bronte as a student of Amy's music and as a musician who embodies the spirit of Amy Winehouse when she interprets songs like "You Know I’m No Good," "Rehab," or "Stronger Than Me."

He further explains:
"We don’t want anyone to look like Amy or dress like Amy. We are looking for someone who understands the spirit of her music and has great respect for Amy. That’s exactly what we need."
