Donate blood – save lives!
In Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland, approximately 2,700 blood donors are sought each week to supply hospitals with sufficient blood reserves. A blood transfusion is needed every 90 seconds, whether it’s due to an accident, childbirth, or for those fighting serious illnesses.

The Red Cross works tirelessly to ensure a full supply. However, blood reserves have a limited shelf life of a maximum of 42 days, and the needs for different blood types must always be met. Currently, only about 3.59% of the Austrian population aged 18 and over donates blood regularly. Therefore, every single donation is invaluable.

For more information about blood donation, visit www.blut.at and call 0800 190 190. Individuals between the ages of 18 and 70 who meet certain health and legal criteria can donate blood. A valid photo ID must be presented for blood donation.
