Protected forest hike on the primeval forest trail

An exciting hike through the Bannwald forest on the Primeval Forest Trail. We set off with our hiking guide on a tour through the Flüh Protected Forest, which is also located in the core zone of the Black Forest Biosphere Reserve. Back to the primeval forest—in the Flüh Protected Forest, nature is left to its own devices. The Primeval Forest Trail begins on the Wiesentalweg "Flühweg" at the intersection heading toward Künaberg. From there, it leads through the lower section of the protected forest to Künaberg and back to Schönau via the upper trail from Künaberg. On this hike, we experience the silence and beauty of the landscape, and we learn how the forest—which has not been subject to forestry management for decades—is increasingly resembling the original primeval forest. Please remember to wear sturdy shoes! Total distance: approx. 5.5 km; 450 meters of elevation gain. Cost: Adults: 5 euros; Children/teens aged 12 to 16: 2 euros. Minimum number of participants: 4–5 people.
