Metamorphosis 2026 - Exchange

The concert series Metamorphosis begins its seventh season under the motto "Tradition in the Evolution of Music." Tradition is understood not as a rigid inheritance but as a living force that allows new creations to emerge through dialogue. The third concert evening focuses on the exchange between tradition and cultural identity: Jean Françaix's string trio combines French classicism with the spirit of the interwar period, reflecting the dialogue between tradition and modernity. The string trio by Gideon Klein, created in Theresienstadt, is a moving testament to cultural memory and inner resilience. This is particularly impressively demonstrated in the reinterpretation of a Czech folk song. After the intermission, Ernö Dohnányi's Serenade in C major combines classical form with the tonal diversity of the Danube Monarchy – a musical dialogue between folk music, art music, and European influences.
