Are you in love and seeing the world through rose-colored glasses? If so, you might want to stop reading here. The program of this matinee promises a rollercoaster of emotions. It celebrates the exhilaration of first love but also dares to look beyond the current euphoria, into tomorrow and the day after, when the initial thrill of infatuation has faded and farewells must be made. A four-member ensemble, which laughs and sighs together, rejoices and laments, looking both into the past and the future, invites the audience to follow this adventure. Michael Schade gathers artistic companions around him. Together, they wander through musical and literary masterpieces from various eras and countries. John Dowland's "Come, Heavy Sleep," Henry Lawes' "Sweet, Stay Awhile," Robert de Visée's "La Plainte," Johann Sebastian Bach's "Bist du bei mir," BWV 508, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Komm liebe Zither, komm," KV 351, Franz Schubert's "Der Winterabend," D 938, among others. William Shakespeare's Sonnet 29 "When fortune and men deny their pleasure," Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's "Welcome and Farewell," August von Platen's Sonnet 60 "Who ever knew how to grasp life rightly," Heinrich von Melk's "From the embrace of death," among others. Michael Schade, tenor; André Ferreira, Renaissance lute, theorbo, Biedermeier guitar; Christoph Hammer, harpsichord, hammerklavier; Serge Falck, recitation.
