Thematic Tour "War and Peace"

The Schattenburg has a tumultuous history. It has not always been as peaceful as it stands today, high above the city. Starting from the warlike origins of the construction of the Schattenburg, the difference between military castle building and peaceful palace construction is explained, along with the involvement of the Schattenburg in sieges and conflicts such as the Appenzeller Wars or the Old Zurich War. Individual exhibits testify to the dangerous times that the residents of the town and the castle had to endure. The backgrounds and possible beginnings of war and peace are conveyed by historian Dr. Thomas Wanger.
