The musical and the eponymous Swedish film by Kay Pollak tell the story of conductor Daniel Daréus, who returns to the village of his childhood after a heart attack. There, he takes over the leadership of the church choir and captivates everyone with his unconventional methods. However, not everyone in the village is pleased with the fresh wind blowing through their community, and he finds himself in conflict with the entrenched structures. Musical Güssing has successfully obtained the rights for the German-language performance of this hit musical. It will be directed by artistic director Marianne Resetarits.
The most well-known song from the musical is "Gabriela's Song."
