In 1914, the Tyrolean doctor and writer, Karl Schönherr, who completed his apprenticeship at a pharmacy in Friesach from 1890 to 1891, wrote a timeless work about a "devilish woman" that turns the prevailing values of the masculine world upside down. In 1918, the Catholic Church prompted the king in Bavaria to have the play banned, which today is among the most performed works in southern Germany.
