Dual - A Journey for the Senses

With "Dual," the internationally acclaimed Flamenco masters Mercedes Ruiz (choreography and dance) and Santiago Lara (Flamenco guitar and composition) bring an intimate yet powerful stage work to Vienna for the first time. In their joint project, virtuoso dance, brilliant guitar artistry, and a clear artistic vision come together: the vibrant evolution of the Flamenco tradition.

Ruiz and Lara share their unity as an artistic couple - both on stage and in life. Mercedes Ruiz showcases her mastery across a variety of Flamenco styles and expressions. With "bata de cola," mantón, and castanets, she unfolds an impressive range of emotions.

The program is also a tribute to the Flamenco guitar and Spanish music. The audience will experience, among other pieces, the first "Rondeña" by Ramón Montoya and a poignant "Seguiriya" by the Jerez master Manuel Morao, who paved the way for Mercedes Ruiz to Broadway and international stages at the age of six. This is complemented by the legendary Farruca "Punta y Tacón" by the genius Sabicas, interpreted by Santiago Lara, as well as a virtuosic guitar transcription of "Zapateado" by the famous Spanish violinist Sarasate.

After successful performances in metropolises such as Paris, London, Berlin, and Hong Kong, "Dual" now makes its debut in Vienna. The audience can expect an intense evening that showcases Flamenco as a contemporary, vibrant art form - an impressive journey for the senses.
