Teachers in Concert

With the new series "Teachers in Concert," the Waidhofen/Ybbstal Music and Arts School consciously places the artistic work of its teachers in the spotlight. The musicians, who teach every day, also perform as professional artists on stage – with their own ensembles, programs, and artistic signatures.

The series kicks off with the concert "Frottola – poesia per musica" on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Bürgerspitalkirche Waidhofen/Ybbs. Under the motto "Music like an Italian summer evening," the IRIS CONSORT takes the audience into the world of the Renaissance. Frottole – four-part songs from Northern Italy – combine poetry, lightness, and Mediterranean sound into a finely nuanced concert experience.

Featuring experienced artists such as Antonia Ortner (soprano & salterio), Akisato Takeo (percussion), Regina Schwingenschlögl (cantus), Yaxin Wang (altus), Birgit Schörghofer (tenor), and Alenka Klobucar (bassus), who share their musical expertise not only in the concert hall but also in teaching.

The new series is intended as a conscious sign of the high artistic quality within the faculty and as an invitation to experience teachers in their role as active musicians. Admission is free.
