Danube FESTIVAL WEEKS: Superbodies

Two actresses engage with the theme of stereotypical beauty through their different life realities.

Beauty – a fleeting glance, a whisper, a sound; who weaves the norms that hold you, bind you, carry you? Who decides what remains, what fades, what drives, what pulls? A body, bent by life, young in desire; another – young or perhaps old in scars, strong and fragile at the same time. The wheelchair – it circles, it tips, it glides, sometimes light as a leaf, sometimes heavy as a burden, a wheel that turns, a path that opens, a frame that holds – a frame that breaks. A dance tells of lust, of love, of longings, of wounds that carry, of shame that fades. And somewhere in between stand royal children, too close and too far, free or perhaps trapped?
