The "Christkindlanschießen" is a Christmas tradition in the Salzburg region and has a long history. The shooting during the Christmas holidays, as well as for many other joyful occasions, has been preserved to this day. This traditional folk custom of "Christkindlanschießen" was once certainly a cultic noise-making practice aimed at driving away all evil in preparation for the Christmas celebration. Today, the loud announcement of the Christmas festivities has taken center stage as an expression of joy. In Kuchl, on December 24th, the "Christkind" is shot at noon at the Heimkehrerkreuz and in the afternoon after the evening meal at the parish center.
