TOURDATA
Schlossberg 1, 4020 Linz
For the fourth time, the festival for art in digital contexts and public spaces transforms a location in Linz into a freely accessible art space. After the Danube Promenade (2019), the Mühlkreis Train Station (2021), and the Harbor District (2023), in 2026, the Schlossberg with its castle park, castle museum, rose garden, Kepler Meadow, Schlossberg Tunnel, and St. Martin's Church will become a festival venue spanning around five hectares. FMR 26 will focus on four thematic areas: Digital Afterlife and Immortality, Future Archaeology and Digital Artifacts, Digital Deceleration, Isolation, and the New Idyll, as well as AI Societies, Power Structures, and Resistance. The central question revolves around transience and permanence in the digital age—drawing inspiration from the festival title, which is derived from the Greek "ephḗmeros" ("ephemeral, fleeting"). Approximately 30 works from media art, digital art, and internet art will be showcased. The complete program, including lectures, discussions, performances, and concerts, will be published in April 2026. The opening will take place on June 3, 2026, at 6 PM, featuring greetings, opening tours, and an opening night. During the five festival days, visitors can expect daily tours, performances, talks, and a concert night featuring experimental electronic music. The festival is organized by the LINZ FMR association in cooperation with Linz art and cultural institutions and with support from the city, state, federal government, and numerous partners.
