Pentecost Concerts of the Münzbach Chamber Orchestra
Romantic Sound Worlds with Weber and Dvořák

On the Pentecost weekend, the Münzbach Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Mag. Georg Prinz, invites you to its next concert series in Münzbach, Perg, and Waldhausen. The program centers around works by Carl Maria von Weber and Antonín Dvořák. In addition to Weber's Clarinet Concerto No. 2 in E-flat major, Op. 74, interpreted by soloist Verena Kastner, Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 "From the New World," one of the most popular works in the symphonic literature, will also be performed.

In honor of the 200th anniversary of Carl Maria von Weber's death in 2026, the orchestra is particularly focusing on the works of this significant composer of the early Romantic period. The concert evening will open with Weber's famous Rondo "Invitation to the Dance," Op. 65, in the colorful orchestral arrangement by Hector Berlioz, which impressively introduces the sound world of early Romanticism. The subsequent clarinet concerto is considered one of the most important solo works in the romantic clarinet literature, captivating with its virtuosic passages as well as its lyrical expressiveness.

The highlight of the evening will be Dvořák's 9th Symphony "From the New World," a masterpiece of high Romanticism that has delighted audiences for generations with its memorable melodies, rhythmic energy, and emotional soundscapes.

Verena Kastner, BA - Clarinet
Verena Kastner received her first instrumental lessons at the Landesmusikschule Perg. She completed her studies at the University of Mozarteum Salzburg in the subjects of clarinet and saxophone with distinction. Numerous concert activities as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician, as well as multiple participations in national competitions and masterclasses, round off her musical career. Since 2014, Verena Kastner has been working as a teacher for clarinet and saxophone at the Landesmusikschulwerk Upper Austria.
