Domenico Scarlatti Stabat mater for 10 voices
Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Hora est | Te deum | Ave Maria
On the eve of the Marian feast day, the Stiftskirche Waldhausen will become the venue for a vocal night featuring extraordinary rarities: Domenico Scarlatti, alongside his 555 harpsichord sonatas, created one of the most significant vocal works of the 18th century with his "Stabat mater." Like him, the young Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy also composes his up to 16-part vocal works entirely without orchestra, creating his singular "Te deum" in 1826 in the spirit of Bach's motet art.
