Two Generations of Jazz - Music Universities Guest XIII

The pianist and composer Hans Koller (born 1970 in Landshut, living in London since 1991) has created an impressive body of over 70 original compositions, which have been recorded on sixteen critically acclaimed albums. His works have been performed, interpreted, and/or documented in collaboration with many leading figures in contemporary jazz, such as Bill Frisell and Steve Swallow, with pioneers of the early avant-garde like Steve Lacy, Alexander von Schlippenbach, and Evan Parker, as well as with genre-defining, groundbreaking composers/improvisers Bob Brookmeyer, Mike Gibbs, and Kenny Wheeler.

Chris Parker described him as "simply one of the most individual voices in the UK, both as a composer and as a pianist." John O'Gallagher stated: "He is a leader in the truest sense of the word." Jazz Review noted, "O'Gallagher is a star to be reckoned with, both as a performer and as a composer."

Swedish singer Rebecka Edlund weaves the sounds of contemporary jazz, Scandinavian folk music, and Nordic landscapes. Her debut album "Something About Björk" (2022) was nominated by Lira Music Magazine as the best folk-jazz album of the year.
