Evening Concert // Yvonne Moriel & CPM-Lab Final Concert

For six days, highly talented musicians work together in the Composer-Performer Music Lab with other participants and instructors on their own music. They come from various backgrounds, yet they all share one thing in common: they are all active instrumentalists or performers creating their own musical works. The Composer-Performer Music Lab serves as a musical experimental field, where participants navigate between sound art, improvisation, and composition. As in previous years, the highly exciting works will be presented in the first part of the evening concert. And as always, it is hard to say exactly what the audience can expect at this concert. However, one can certainly look forward to musical works of the highest quality.

Saxophonist and composer Yvonne Moriel is among the most exciting figures in the Austrian jazz scene. Since 2022, she has been developing a distinctive sound with her quartet sweetlife, blending modern jazz, dub influences, and electronic soundscapes. The result: complex rhythmic structures meet atmospheric sounds, dub effects, and an energetic stage presence that nonchalantly brushes aside perceived genre boundaries. Awarded the Austrian Jazz Prize as Best Newcomer and part of the prestigious New Austrian Sound of Music support program for 2025/26, Yvonne Moriel represents a young, open generation of jazz musicians. Trained in classical and jazz music, her stylistic versatility, strong musical voice, and exciting personal projects have quickly drawn attention to her.
