"Olle schaun, olle zaahn, olle drahn" sing the Strottern & JazzWerkstatt Wien in the first song of their CD "Wo fangts an" (2015). These words could also describe the dialect boom in the Austrian music scene, for which the Strottern are partly responsible in its Viennese form. The starting point is usually Viennese dialect texts that leave behind the traditional lamentation and instead offer poetic power and sharp reflections on contemporary society. Alongside Klemens Lendl, Peter Ahorner, Karl Stirner, and Christian Tesak have been writing for the Strottern for many years. In their current album "Sieben Zwetschken," they collaborate for the first time with the award-winning writer Teresa Präauer.

The Strottern & JazzWerkstatt Wien
For many years, the Strottern have been seeking new, contemporary forms of expression for the Viennese song. In 2009, they expanded their format for the first time on the CD "Elegant" with JazzWerkstatt Wien: with a rhythm section, brass instruments, electric guitar, and piano, the Viennese song duo transforms into a small big band. Musical boundaries are crossed without losing their distinctive style. They now present their third joint album "Sieben Zwetschken." It combines the joy of playing of cheerful musicians, the spontaneity of jazz, the intimacy of storytelling, and the defiance of the individual in a confusing global situation – thus capturing the spirit of the times without pandering to it.

Teresa Präauer
Teresa Präauer is a writer and lives in Vienna. She studied German studies and painting in Salzburg, Berlin, and Vienna, and writes novels, stories, and essays. For her debut "Für den Herrscher aus Übersee," she received the aspekte Literature Prize in 2012. Since then, numerous books have been published, many of which have been translated. She has been awarded, among others, the Erich Fried Prize (2017), the Ben Witter Prize (2022), and the Bremen Literature Prize (2024) for "Kochen im falschen Jahrhundert."
