The Danube as a Festival Region 2027: With the Danube, the 2027 festival brings a body of water to the forefront for the first time. As a setting for artistic projects. As a conceptual figure for movement, as a starting point for installations and interventions. As a fluid space with places and people shaped by the river and life along the river. Festival theme: “Diving Deeper”: Water is political. The Danube connects. It transforms. Landscapes, economies, societies. Current generates resistance. Diving in means touching. Let us not read the river as a backdrop, but as a protagonist of social, political, and ecological negotiation. Let us immerse ourselves in the interplay of humans, animals, plants, and microorganisms.
