Matinee // Asja Valcic, Judith Fliedl & Elena Arbonies Jauregui

In the equally cozy and elegant atmosphere of the Refugium in Lunz, a part of our matinee will take place again this year – in cooperation with BRÜCKEN, the music and literature festival in Mürz, under the direction of Maria Gstättner. Under her curation, we will hear Judith Fliedl and Elena Arbonies Jauregui, who not only perform contemporary works but also explain them. This way, they overcome the barrier that often prevents us from engaging with new music: What if I don’t understand it? Exactly – no problem, because the artists provide an immediate introduction.

We are sending Asja Valcic with her new album "Inner Voice" – an ode to the cello. With this, we are building bridges: to the friendly festival across the state border as well as between musical worlds and places in Lunz. For the second half of the concert, we will move across the church square and through the church door into the refreshing world of new music.

Asja Valcic
With "Inner Voice," Asja Valcic presents her first solo cello album. It combines classical mastery with improvisational freedom and is a homage to the cello – featuring moments of driving passion as well as quiet fragility.

Judith Fliedl
The Vienna-based violinist works at the intersection of contemporary music and new concert formats. She performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician and has been a Junior Researcher at the University of Arts Graz since 2023.

Elena Arbonies Jauregui
The clarinetist and bass clarinetist is dedicated to contemporary music. She studied in Graz, Vienna, Rotterdam, and San Sebastián, and as the founder of the Ensemble Coincidence, she develops interdisciplinary concert formats.
