100 Years of Strauss in Cinema
The ox, this ox, wakes up in his castle. The Marschallin, this kind being, dreams herself back to her girlhood when she first met the Field Marshal. And he? In the midst of the battle chaos, he thinks of his wife with a warm heart... The silent film by "Caligari" director Robert Wiener about "Der Rosenkavalier" from 1926 brings several surprises to the screen. Many are familiar with Hugo von Hofmannsthal's and Richard Strauss' most popular stage work. However, the film offers exciting new perspectives. Film enthusiasts can enjoy Strauss' live music performed by one of the most renowned Austrian ensembles for new music during this unusual concert evening. The 50-year-old œnm, as a premiere ensemble, will also present the work that was composed last summer by Peter Trabitzsch as composer in residence at Stift Kremsmünster. How fitting, as the wine glasses are (in honor) raised!
