OÖ Abbey Concerts: Hayato Sumino

The pianist and composer Hayato Sumino is redefining the art of piano playing and captivating audiences worldwide with his artistic vision. With over 2.2 million followers on his social media platforms, he has built an extraordinary presence. In April 2024, he debuted at the Royal Albert Hall with Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue; in August 2025, he performed at the BBC Proms in a historic overnight event. In 2025, Hayato received three prestigious awards: the Leonard Bernstein Prize from the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, as well as two Opus Klassik Awards for Young Artist of the Year and for Best Solo Live Performance – making him the first artist ever to win in two categories in the same year.

With his program "Chopin Orbit," Hayato Sumino creates a musical space where the works of Frédéric Chopin take center stage, opening up new connections. Works by Saint-Saëns, Godowsky, Adès, and Janáček, along with his own compositions, form a dialogue between times, styles, and expressions.
