The Guo Gan Swordmen Trio brings together three outstanding virtuosos of traditional Chinese music for an impressive auditory experience. Erhu master Guo Gan, a globally celebrated soloist and the first Chinese folk musician to be awarded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture, captivates alongside his stage partners Liu Yi Qing on the Pipa and Chen Jian on the Guzheng. Together, they present a program of classical works and new compositions, with sung poems from the Tang Dynasty adding a special emphasis. The Erhu, Pipa, and Guzheng create a multifaceted soundscape full of nuances and contrasts, accompanied by traditional Chinese dance performed by the graceful dancer Dai Mengjia. An evening concert that makes the depth of a rich musical tradition as palpable as its vibrant presence today.
