W. A. Mozart: Orphanage Mass

The Orphanage Mass got its name because Mozart composed it for the inauguration of the Vienna Orphanage Church. Mozart "conducted this solemn music at the age of twelve in the presence of the imperial court." The Orphanage Mass captivates with its boldness, joyfulness, and the lively contrasts that take on operatic traits in the young Mozart's work. Additionally, you will hear the Marian antiphon "Regina Coeli" by the 21-year-old Mozart. Under the direction of János Czifra, the masterpieces are intensively worked on by choir singers who have traveled from around the world in several workshops. The grand finale is the performance featuring renowned soloists and the Vienna Cathedral Orchestra at St. Stephen's Cathedral. Performers: Sing with!
