Book: "Dark Remembrance. History and Stories from Manfred Bockelmann's Children's Holocaust Project Drawing Against Forgetting" For over 16 years, the Austrian painter Manfred Bockelmann has been creating large-format black-and-white portraits of children and adolescents who were victims of National Socialism. With his project "Drawing Against Forgetting," he creates powerful artistic memories that make history directly tangible. Internationally exhibited, the project is considered one of the most significant works of a living Austrian artist. The image and text volume "Dark Remembrance" by Heiner Hammerschlag documents the development of the project, its global stations, and encounters with survivors of the Shoah. Numerous illustrations, contributions from expert authors, two short films via QR code, and a removable timeline in which the perpetrators speak openly in various ways make the work a vibrant space of remembrance – a powerful testament against forgetting.
