Bluebirds Friday: Christian Masser

The Graz singer and guitarist Christian Masser, who has been performing solo and in various band formations ("The Mysterious Bluesmen," "Blues and Ballads" with his brother Robert Masser and Ripoff Raskolnikov) on local stages and in neighboring countries for 33 years, serves a fine mix of handpicked country and folk songs (Cash, Kristofferson, Dylan, etc.) and Mississippi blues in his solo program: songs about hard work and cotton fields, ghost riders and mama's boys, about sinners on Saturday night and saints on Sunday morning. The sparse style (voice and (slide) guitar) gives Masser plenty of room for a compelling and sensitive interpretation of the song material. Doors open: 6:30 PM.
