After more than a decade of band history, Knocked Loose find themselves at a point where pressure and opportunities are growing simultaneously. Following their critically acclaimed predecessor and a touring phase that took them from underground clubs to festival stages like Coachella and Bonnaroo, a long, arduous process began for the next chapter. Over nearly four years, around 40 songs were created before ultimately narrowing down to the ten tracks that make up the current third album, "You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To."
The result encapsulates everything that the hardcore institution from Kentucky stands for - uncompromising intensity, emotional openness, and a constant search for new forms of expression. Raging tempos, powerful breakdowns, and vocals that oscillate between anger, despair, and bitter clarity meet surprising musical shifts. Unexpected grooves and melodic passages sometimes weave into the brutality of the songs, while samples, spoken-word moments, or unusual rhythmic ideas open up new spaces within the brutal dynamics.
Lyrically, the band remains true to its core. Themes such as fear, betrayal, religious hypocrisy, and inner turmoil run through the tracks. The album title stems from an encounter during a turbulent flight when a stranger sitting next to the singer calmed his panic with a simple phrase: "You won't go before you're supposed to." A moment that offers comfort without glossing over the darkness that drives many of these songs.
It is precisely this tension between existential weight and eruptive energy that shapes the new material. The songs are more aggressive, faster, and sometimes catchier than ever before - without losing the raw core that has made the band great. Hardcore remains the foundation. However, the spectrum of sound colors, emotions, and ideas has noticeably expanded.
Whether in front of 10,000 people at a festival or in a sweaty club - the power of this music works everywhere. And therein lies its promise: uncompromising hardcore that evolves without forgetting its roots.
