The Classical Festival at Schloss Kirchstetten in the Weinviertel will be themed around love as a commodity in 2026: The London merchant Tobias Mill wants to marry off his daughter Fanny to the Canadian businessman Slook – as part of a business deal. However, Fanny is already in love with Edoardo Milfort. When Slook realizes that Fanny does not want to marry willingly, he generously renounces the union and helps the lovers gain Mill's approval. In the end, there is a reconciliatory happy ending.
"La cambiale di matrimonio" was Rossini's first performed opera. He composed it in 1810 at the age of just 18 for the Teatro San Moisè in Venice. This one-act work, a typical Venetian "farsa comica," already showcases Rossini's great talent for pointed humor, lively ensembles, and sparkling musical character portrayal.
From July 29, 2026, at the smallest opera house in Austria - directed by Richard Panzenböck and musically conducted by Hooman Khalatbari.
