The Joseph Haydn Private University invites you to a special chamber music evening at the former synagogue in Kobersdorf. The focus will be on the composer Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, one of the great masters of the string quartet, whose music will enter into an exciting dialogue with works by the Austrian composer Alexander Zemlinsky. Mendelssohn's String Quartet Op. 12 No. 1 will be paired with Zemlinsky's 1st String Quartet – two works that illuminate Romanticism from different perspectives. An evening of contrasts, where light and shadow, structure and breakthrough, intimacy and drama are juxtaposed.
