Experience the highest waterfalls in Austria on a guided ranger tour! Our tour begins at the Krimml Tourism Association, where you will be welcomed by an experienced ranger. The hike follows the historic ascent on the left side of the waterfalls. During the climb, you will enjoy breathtaking views and learn interesting facts about the historical trade route as well as the flora and fauna of the region. After overcoming all the tiers of the falls and a total drop of 385 meters, you will reach the entrance to the Krimmler Achental. Here, you can decide whether to hike a bit further into the Krimmler Achental or return with the ranger to the starting point. This route offers more spectacular views and opportunities for photos. Difficulty: Moderate summer excursion on well-developed paths or easy climbing facilities with a destination above the valley floor;

Equipment: Hiking or mountain shoes with a treaded sole, rain and sun protection, appropriate clothing and a change of clothes, backpack with drinks and snacks;

Cost: 22 euros for adults. Children and teenagers (10–16 years) accompanied by their parents are free. Free with guest card or National Park Summer Card!

Dogs: Bringing dogs is not permitted during excursions out of consideration for other participants and local wildlife.

Meeting point: Every Tuesday (July 14, 2026 - September 8, 2026) at 09:00 at the Krimml Tourism Association (Coordinates NS 47.22207 / WO 12.17545)

Getting there: By bus (line 670) to the stop "Krimml Ortsmitte" or by car to the parking lots "Krimmler Wasserfälle."

Duration: approx. 5 hours total duration
Pure walking time: approx. 3.5 hours
Distance: approx. 9 kilometers
Ascent/descent: approx. 450 meters in elevation
Refreshments: possible after the tour
Registration: Registration is possible up to three hours before the start of the tour at npht.at/touren.
