The special exhibition 2026 at the Haager Heimatmuseum in Schloss Starhemberg, titled "Rebels! The Black Peasants of Weiberau - Their Motives and Fates in the Upper Austrian Peasant War," deals with the memorable events of the peasant uprising around 1626 in the region: the training camp in Weiberau, the events surrounding Schloss Starhemberg with caretaker Maria Finckh, the active regional peasant leaders such as Achaz Wiellinger and Alexander Knasmüller, as well as the battle at Kornrödt in September 1626. The exhibition will be opened on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM. The festive event will be accompanied by musical and culinary offerings (small buffet with coffee, cake, regional breads, and drinks). Additional program points include a guided tour of the exhibition and a dialogue with the curators. Note: In case of rain, the opening ceremony will take place in the peasant parlor of the castle.
