Workshop: Weaving Easter Baskets

This afternoon, our museum will be transformed into a basket weaving workshop. In this course, we will focus on the basic techniques of weaving and create a small basket for bread, fruit, vegetables, or various small items. Step by step, we will progress from the base to the rim weaving and finally to the finishing touches. Those who wish can add a handle or grip holes to the basket. The creativity that the willow as a material offers knows no bounds. Furthermore, the course instructor will provide an overview of which types of willow are particularly suitable for weaving, when and how to properly cut the willows, and what additional materials are needed for basket making.

Weaving with various materials and techniques is one of the oldest crafts in existence. It is a tradition that has been practiced in all cultures and eras to create sturdy transport and storage containers. Course instructor: Bianca Kibler
