Fruit tasting tour in the Ermstal valley: fruit history, nature, and fine brandy on the Albtrauf escarpment

Take a horse-drawn carriage ride from the Fruit Tree Museum through the Ermstal’s orchards and vineyards to the “Brennscheuer Straßer” distillery... During a guided tour of the Fruit Tree Museum, you’ll learn more about the history of fruit growing in Glems and the Ermstal, a tradition that has been passed down for many generations. Enjoy the fruit in the traditional way, pressed and fermented into Swabian cider. Coffee and fruit cake will fortify you for your journey to the cherry-growing town of Dettingen/Erms. By horse-drawn carriage, the route winds past orchards down into the Ermstal valley. Along the way, you’ll pass the historic Neuhäuser vineyard and the wine presses. Enjoy the approximately one-hour ride with magnificent views of the Albtrauf escarpment and the Ermstal orchard meadows. You will be welcomed at the “Brennscheuer Straßer” distillery with a glass of refreshing apple-cherry secco. In 2013, the former stable and hay barn was converted into a distillery with a rustic dining area. The subsequent farmer’s snack is just as hearty and Swabian, featuring Dettinger sausages, homemade farmhouse bread, and Alb cheese. Last but not least, after a hearty meal, the tasting of fine brandies comes at just the right time. Over a glass of fine brandy, you’ll learn more about the art of distilling on the Albtrauf.
