On their flight into the unknown, they join the donkey, who encourages them to come along to Bremen with the now-proverbial exhortation: *“...you’ll find something better than death anywhere.”* They never reach their dream destination, for along the way they discover a hut that turns out to be a robbers’ den. With their solidarity and courage, they achieve the nearly impossible. They chase away the robbers and take over the house. Just as in the fairy tale, life is about recognizing one’s own possibilities, changing things, finding like-minded people, and achieving one’s own goals. What makes our production special is that, in addition to the actors and live musicians, we have two trained clowns with us. That means we can also look forward to many fantastic circus acts. In the fairy tale, the animals set off for Bremen because they want to become town musicians there; in our version, they also want to become “real” clowns.
