Special Exhibition: My Homeland—My Town. Hebel’s Schopfheim 200 Years Later.

What does “home” mean today? For Johann Peter Hebel, home was not an idealized place, but a lived-in interplay of landscape, language, daily life, and memory. Building on this, this participatory exhibition explores the contemporary concept of home in the Wiesental. What is home: friends, family, the place where one grew up? The community, the neighbors? A sense of security, childhood memories, nature? Everyone is invited to share their personal perspective: through photos, drawings, paintings, or objects. Home reveals itself as multifaceted, contradictory, and ever-changing. The “rules of the game”: Timeframe: After the launch on March 27, there will be at least five weeks to find your subject. Entries should be submitted to the museum by May 7. Late submissions are accepted until mid-July. If there are many submissions, the works will be rotated regularly—the exhibition remains in flux. Just like in soccer, the rules of fair play apply: respect and fairness come first. There are no “good” or “bad” entries. The prerequisite is that everyone engages seriously with their ideas. No clichés: The goal of the exhibition is a personal exploration of the concept of home. We do not reproduce clichés about home, nor do we make fun of them.
