Historical Tour | Tour as part of the 2026 Hiking Season Opening

This historical hike covers about 8 km through forests and along the old border around Dobel. Along the way, participants will discover historic boundary stones and the idyllic Holzbach Valley before the tour comes to a leisurely close at the Neusatzer Pfütz. This roughly three-hour guided hike (approx. 8 km, 150 meters of elevation gain) combines nature exploration with regional history. The starting point is the Horntannhalde forest parking lot above Dobel, from where the group sets off on well-maintained forest trails toward the former state border. A special highlight are the historic boundary stones between Baden and Württemberg. They tell of a time when two states still met here, shaping trade, road networks, and everyday life. Throughout the hike, there are frequent fascinating insights into the region’s history as well as brief explanations of the landscape’s former uses. A short detour leads down into the tranquil Holzbach Valley. There, participants experience a typical Northern Black Forest valley landscape with a stream, wetter forest sections, and varied vegetation—a pleasant contrast to the high-altitude trails. Finally, everyone arrives together at the Neusatzer Pfütz, where a convivial get-together awaits the hiking group. Over drinks and light snacks, the tour comes to a relaxed close, and participants can share their experiences.
