Festive concert for trumpet and organ as part of the Organ Spring Styrian The French composer Olivier Messiaen wrote the four symphonic meditations "L'Ascension" for orchestra for Ascension Day, from which he later created a version for solo organ. Michael Schöch will perform the two middle movements in Maria Straßengel, in which Messiaen depicts the jubilant movement of the soul towards heaven. The varied program for trumpet and organ moves between quiet meditation and radiant euphoria, featuring well-known melodies and unexpected discoveries, with music ranging from the Baroque period to the present day. Jürgen Ellensohn, recently appointed to a professorship at the Munich University of Music, is one of the outstanding trumpet soloists of our time. Michael Schöch is an ARD prizewinner and a professor at the Tyrolean State Conservatory in Innsbruck. The pilgrimage church of Maria Straßengel is famous for its impressive location, Gothic architecture, and excellent acoustics.
