Organ Spring: Departure & Jubilation

"Departure & Celebration" brings fine sounds to the pilgrimage church of Maria Straßengel in Gratwein-Straßengel, Styria. As part of the Organ Spring Styria 2026, trumpet and organ come together to fill the church space with clear, warm tones. The special acoustics of the Gothic church carry every note far through the nave, making the interplay intensely palpable. With Jürgen Ellensohn on trumpet and Michael Schöch on organ, two experienced musicians take the stage. Their program spans from festive pieces to serene passages. Sometimes bright and radiant, sometimes solemn and calm – this very mix is what makes the evening captivating. The pilgrimage church of Maria Straßengel is one of the most well-known churches in the region around Graz. Perched high above, it offers not only a wide view but also a unique setting for concerts.
