A journey around the world in 80 days? No problem, thinks the English gentleman Phileas Fogg and bets £20,000 that he can accomplish this feat. After all, the Suez Canal has been opened and the railway across the USA has been completed. But then his servant quits, and the only replacement is a boy who doesn't even have a name and calls himself Passepartout—"Everywhere."

The mismatched pair sets off on their journey. By ship, train, carriage, and even on the back of an elephant, they experience all kinds of adventures, rescue an Indian princess, and realize that they can learn a lot from each other. Additionally, they are pursued by a detective who believes Fogg is a bank robber and tries everything to apprehend him.

After 80 days, they finally reach their hometown of London, but they have exceeded the agreed time limit by five minutes. How Phileas Fogg ultimately wins the bet and also finds his happiness is a surprise for everyone…
