Irish alternative rock band announces additional shows for their global farewell tour and a final album. Kodaline is among the biggest rock bands in Ireland and has garnered international attention over the past 15 years. Originally formed under the name 21 Demands, the quartet consisting of Steve Garrigan (vocals, guitar & piano), Mark Prendergast (guitar), Vinny May (drummer), and Conor Linnane (bass) celebrated their first number-one hit in England in 2007 with the song "Give Me A Minute." After the disbandment of 21 Demands in 2011, May, Prendergast, and Garrigan began a new chapter in 2013 under the name Kodaline with Jason Boland as the new bassist.
Their debut EP "Kodaline" and their debut album "In a Perfect World" made the Dublin band a rising star in alternative rock in Ireland and the UK, thanks to the number-one single "High Hopes" and songs like "Love Like This" and "All I Want." The use of "All I Want" in series such as "Grey’s Anatomy," "Castle," and "The Vampire Diaries" ultimately propelled Kodaline to international fame, making the song their biggest hit with over 1.4 billion streams on Spotify. The accompanying album, which was awarded five times platinum in Ireland, became their first of three number-one albums to date and also celebrated a number-three position in the UK, along with a spot on the Billboard 200.
"Coming Up for Air" continued the success story in 2015 with songs like "The One" and "Moving On," before the LP "Politics of Living" in 2018 established "Brother" as the second biggest hit of their career, marking their third number-one album. After the album "One Day At A Time" (2020) and the live album "Our Roots Run Deep (Live)," the band became quieter for a time.
In October 2025, they finally announced that they would disband after more than ten years and would perform on a farewell tour in Cork, Dublin, and Belfast. Kodaline is now extending their farewell tour in 2026 with dates in Asia, Australia, Europe, and the UK. Additionally, they plan to release their fifth and final album at the end of the year. As the band puts it: "After over a decade together, we have made the difficult decision to say goodbye to Kodaline. We know this may come as a surprise, and it is definitely a bittersweet moment for us as well. What we have shared with you has changed our lives forever. From busking on the streets of Dublin to sold-out concerts and arenas around the world – it has truly been the stuff dreams are made of. We want to go out on a high note, so before we say goodbye, we are heading into the studio one last time to record our fifth and final album as Kodaline. We are and will always be grateful for your love and support. It has been a journey we will never forget, and we hope that the music will accompany you long after our farewell."
