Youth Vigil at the Heiligenkreuz Abbey

Hello, read this, maybe you'll feel like coming to the youth vigil in Heiligenkreuz! It always takes place on the first Friday of the month. You won't be alone: about 150 to 200 young people come. But it's quite an experience: an intense evening of prayer led by the monks. Yes, there are real monks in Heiligenkreuz! And they are happy to see the young people who always gather there.
You can join the monks for evening prayer (Compline) in the abbey church at 7:45 PM. At 8:15 PM, it starts in the Kreuzkirche: the monks process in and open with a piece of Gregorian chant. The Latin might be cool because it's quite incomprehensible; the melodies definitely resonate!
Then we move on to a candlelight procession into the dark, huge abbey church. Singing, we continue through the monastery rooms, the cloister. There we stop, and a young monk reads a story.
