Theaterradl: The Apocalypse — Pulkau

Tumult in the Cosmos: The Earth is infested by "humans"! The comet Konrad is supposed to provide relief. In four weeks, it is set to strike the Earth and wipe out all life! The fate of all humanity now rests in the hands of a scientist, and so she sets out to save the world from impending destruction. The only problem: No one is listening to her.

A cargo bike transformed into a stage, a handful of props, and the two performers Henrietta Rauth and Johannes Sautner, who together take on about 30 different roles; that’s all director Ursula Leitner needs to bring Jura Soyfer's highly relevant comedy to life as part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the Theater Westliches Weinviertel.

"The world can’t last much longer!" — This line from Nestroy's Lumpazivagabundus inspired the then 23-year-old Jura Soyfer to create his revue-like societal satire "The End of the World," with which he predicted the growing blindness and dangers of nationalism as early as the mid-1930s.

Following the model of the historical Thespiskarren, the theater bike with its bicycle stage — environmentally friendly and accessible — comes directly to its audience and gives the play, which seems more relevant than ever in times of political division and climate crisis, an additional significance when suddenly a young woman warns of the impending catastrophe and is not taken seriously.
