Alps & Glow

A musical journey from folk musical traditions to jazzy improvisations – Thomas Gansch and his supergroup Alpen & Glühen combine virtuosity, humor, and unique soundscapes in an unforgettable concert experience. The band project Alpen & Glühen, initiated by the internationally renowned trumpet virtuoso and versatile artist Thomas Gansch, is understood as a supergroup of outstanding musicians who have come together for this project to merge their various musical backgrounds into an aesthetically diverse sound body. Here, folk musical traditions meet jazz, delicate playing intertwines with captivating improvisations, and a Boarischer with a lot of humorous groove encounters an Indian raga translated into Austrian. What may initially sound like wild stylistic pluralism weaves together on stage into special sound worlds that are melancholic, ecstatic, and humorous all at once.

With the Grammy-nominated musician Manu Delago, the frontman of the jazz sensation Shake Stew, Lukas Kranzelbinder, and the creative ingenuity of the radio.string.quartet, the project has played completely sold-out and enthusiastically celebrated tours through Austria, Germany, and Italy over the past two years, performed its debut concert in the Grand Hall of the venerable Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, and achieved a top position in the Austrian album charts for its debut album. Now, accordion virtuoso Christian Bakanic has joined as another band member, enriching the sound worlds of the project with new and powerful facets.
