Metamorphosis 2026 - Openness

The concert series Metamorphosis begins its seventh season under the motto "Tradition in the Evolution of Music." Tradition is understood not as a rigid legacy, but as a living force that allows new creations to emerge through dialogue. The season's closing concert focuses on musical openness: Philippe Gaubert's Trois Aquarelles blend impressionistic colors with classical clarity and surprise with Iberian influences. A new commissioned composition by the Graz composer Philipp Gaspari draws on Austrian tradition and consciously connects it with elements from other cultures. After the intermission, various musical worlds come together: Mario Gheorghiu's jazzy waltz Waltzin plays with Viennese elegance and modern rhythm before Nikolai Kapustin's Trio op. 86 merges jazz and classical form into an energetic musical dialogue.
